Prince George County Inmate Search

Law enforcement officers are permitted to arrest people with or without warrants as far as there is probable cause. When a person is arrested, they are sent to the local station or barrack after being processed through the Prince George County Detention Center. They will be booked into jail, and their name and the crime they committed will be recorded. The suspect’s mugshots, fingerprints, ad personal property will be taken. A body search and DNA screening will also be conducted. The booking process typically takes hours to complete.

After the booking process, the suspect will be taken before a commissioner. The commissioner will determine if there is probable cause to charge the suspect. The commissioner will explain the charges against the suspect and the possible penalties. They will advise the suspect of their right to an attorney and determine whether the suspect should be released, held without bond, or released with specific conditions or a bond. For minor misdemeanors, the suspect may be released on their own recognizance.

The next step is discovery. This is when there is a disclosure of information to be submitted to the court at trial. At this point, the arrested person can choose to plead guilty, and an agreement on the number and type of charges may be determined. If the arrested person pleads guilty, a disposition hearing will be conducted where the presiding judge takes the plea and sentence based on the agreement reached by the attorney in charge of the case. However, the case will go to trial if the arrested person does not plead guilty.

At the trial, the presiding judge or jury will determine if the arrested person is guilty based on all arguments and evidence presented by the attorneys. If the arrested person is found guilty, they may file for an appeal to a higher court.

Note that all the arrest and court process details will be recorded. This makes retrieving information regarding the crime easier for the general public. Inmate records can be accessed in person at the Prince George County Department of Corrections. A written request can also be sent to the Department.

Inmate records are considered public in the United States and therefore are made available by both traditional governmental agencies as well as third-party websites and organizations. Third-party websites may offer an easier means to search, as these services do not face geographical limitations. However, because third-party sites are not government-sponsored, the information obtained through them may vary from official channels. To find inmate records using third-party aggregate sites, requesting parties must provide:

  • The location of the sought-after record, including state, county, and city where the inmate resides.
  • The name of the person listed in the record, unless it is a juvenile.
